| What
age do you start children? |
| We usually say "Age 3" but we've
had good results from 2 ½ year olds, and 4 year
olds who would not get off their mothers' laps. So we
leave it up to the individual mothers. You know your child
better than anyone in the world, so if you think your
2 year old would enjoy the class, then, by all means,
we'd like to see you. |
|
What is Creative Movement? |
| This class teaches a lot of motor exercises
as well as steps in Ballet, Jazz, and Tap, but all in
the same shoes. The children learn the French names of
the steps and during the annual show Dinah does a voice-over
the music so the children do not have to remember what
comes next or try to watch the wings where Dinah is doing
the dance. It really impresses the audience because she's
speaking French and the audience does not understand her
but the children obviously do because they are all doing
the same thing. |
|
How does a child progress to the next level? |
| Each child starts with his/her age group
but then progresses according to his or her ability. No
child is held back because of age unless the mother requests
it. We had one mother who asked Dinah to hold her daughter
back a year since she would have been much younger than
the others in the higher class. She said she was giving
her daughter the gift of time. |

What is Russian Ballet? |
| Sometimes called "Vaganova Ballet"
this is the most dramatic form of ballet. It was named
after its inventor, Agrapina Vaganova. Although Russian
in form the names, like all Ballet terms, are in French. |
|
What is the "Family Rate"? |
| Children from the same family may combine
the hours to figure out the rate of tuition each month.
For instance: 1 child taking a 2 hours/week class would
be the same as 2 children taking a 1 hour/week class each.
1 child for 2 hours or 2 children for 1 hour each would
be the same financially, and the family would save. |
